True that.

It's interesting how social media, within the span of a few short years, has completely changed our lives. Are we still friends, if we're not facebook friends? Why are you (not) stalking my profile? Are you truly paying attention unless you're commenting on my status updates? Why aren't you poking me today, have you suddenly become interested in someone else? How can our relationship really be 'official' unless we've announced it on facebook? It's a tiny-virtual world out there with dynamics as complicated (if not more) than the one we live in on the outside. It's a world where distance doesn't matter, love moves freely from my profile picture to yours. But the fact remains, darling, if you really loved me, you would say it on my Facebook Wall.

:P

It's a world where creeps also move freely from one profile picture of yours to another. Sometimes, if they get lucky, they'd also find a little too candid picture of you. To be precise, that's exactly why they made their account:P

Facebook, to me, is a corrupt society, that just has transient, commercial worth. And will collapse very soon. It also seems like a very high-end, classy whore to me..hehe.

Haha..I can write an entire research paper on Facebook. Later : )

Xeb said...

high-end classy whore huh? This is one research paper I'd like to read methinks! :P

Vagabond said...

Obviously, I would not make the research paper so whorish:P I'd still love to write something along the lines of a research paper.

Anything in which I am able to write vehemently against Facebook, would work.

Xeb said...

Haha. Go for it! :P

Ps: Whore or not, I actually rather like facebook! I've recently also discovered I'm a rather shameless stalker, when the subject matter is of interest! :P

I actually find it extremely annoying when people are exchanging messages on their walls which are a bit "too personal". Have they not heard of the private message feature??

my sentiments exactly anonymous! my sentiments exactly! its actually a ploy to advertise fake emotions to the rest of the world, and am i getting to old or are all the new emoticons and **hugs** and hearts are just really annoying...

Xeb said...

Anon/doc: What part of PDA do you not get? I think both of you are too old! You need to get 'with' it virtually darlings. The *hugs* and hearts are what its all about these days! :P

Sigh, I moan the fact that we arent friends on FB! and to think he joined because of me :P

Xeb said...

oc: Err, why would he join because of you and then ignore you once there? This makes no sense. :P

even if its a short-lived high, i'd rather consume it. its just a (cyber)space that is rightfully yours to own and use(or abuse). And its free! So I for one, can't say no to it.

P.S. I hate people who diss facebook-ers. Im ok with the fact that you don't like it and decided to not have an account on it. But the people who are addicted to it have an equal right to have the opinion of liking it.

So just stuff your face with cheesecake, while I go poke someone! :)

You see, some people do not just outrightly abhor Facebook to the extent of not signing up. People, like myself, hate a few aspects of it, especially how it's getting under our skin, negating the entire purpose of social networking and eventually turning people into Facebook-sluts.

To conclude, I'd say, I do not want my online-life to control my 'Life'. Facebook and other similar sites, instead of liberating us, have enslaved us to an alarming extent.

Xeb said...

Pfft! :P Enslaving shenslaving. Facebook is a symbol of truth, justice and freedom of speech. But the fact remains that if anybody out there wants to tell me they love me, they better be prepared to say it on by Facebook wall. *bus*

People have different notions to join such social networking platforms; it is true it has given new definition to the word 'Friendship' which is opposite to the real life relationship. I read somewhere that 60 percent people over such networking sites looks for their life partner, more precisely compatible life partners , I know it isnt awful; others have made it a habit to add atleast a single person a day whom he can call his 'V-Friend'. Some people are addicted of roaming here and there uselessly cuz they have so much spare time to do so. I have seen some people in some communities who actually joined them to find solutions of their problems like physiological as they seek best advice regardless of the authenticity of source.

And for the people like me, discovering the other creatures of same tribe while sitting on your seat for a little time is enough to justify whatever I am doing. Who knows what will be my gain in this entire practice ... Relation with Good people or Bad Memories.

PS: Love on FB Wall, Interesting option, Sab loug hil Jain gay ;) what if you will get more then one =)

Facebook should perhaps change it's black, insipid heart to come up with cute, colorful ones. Those would look pretty on your wall, as expressions of true Facebook love:P

P.S. I'll come and 'Facebook Like' it everytime somebody decides to go public with his/her love for you : )

While this is a creative idea (and totally not lame or cheesy), you must realize that Facebook has about 500 million users.

At your age, are you fine with rejecting 5/6th of the world's population? [:P]

A big grin @ Deepak's comment!

Hey Xeb

you are a 'SATAN' in 'RAMAZAN'

Hahahahahahahahah

Key-without-Tee

am seeking ur mailing address , can i hav ?

Xeb said...

M: I sincerely hope there is more than just one person in this world who loves me! :P

V: Point. FB is really most inconvenient sometimes. Colorful hearts (with frills on them even) would really look most-e cute on my wall. Haina?

Anon: On facebook ofcourse (ha-ha)

D: I'm not rejecting anyone (as if, at my age I'd have THAT luxury :P). I merely asking anyone who has any declarations to make to do it using a prescribed medium. I'm sure their ardent desire to impress me will make them a facebook user, even if they weren't already.

k: Must you encourage him? :P

tuydo: Err, why am I satan exactly? If you must know I'm being positively angelic this Ramzan! :P

Vagabond said...

Haha, Hell yeah. Don't you wish you had the option of customising your own Facebook page? Adding a 'Pretty Little Liar' or 'Vampire Diaries' background with a hint of hot pink:P Oh Well..

Xeb said...

Hehe. Absolutely. The pink-er the better, naturally.

Deepak Iyer said...

@X: Ah, so close.
I guess I'm out [:P]

Xeb said...

Apparently your devotion to me does not extend as far as facebook. Oho. So much for that then! :P

hehehe....given the utter blandness of my life, whts the harm in cyber-encouragement! :D Knowing myself, I don't think the liason would continue long enough to be noticeable.
