Two days and countless hours of hunting later, I finally have my Eid jora. And I luuurve it! I also bought myself a few more clothes (because they were so purtyyy) and now I'll have a nice new wardrobe to wear to work when I get back. Also to various Eid-milany things happening in the near future. The plans for Eid are somewhat obscure. It seems my friends and my mom are at cross purposes. The former have made lots of fun plans that involve a lot of, err, non-Ramazan type activities. The latter seems to have my schedule booked with assorted family (and extended-extended-extended family) gatherings where - it-may-just-be-possible - the future hubby may have been known to loiter. I think of me somewhat like a sheep this eid, if anyone wants to meet up with me, I say 'aye'. If mommy wants me to socialize at length with not-so-random strangers, I say 'aye'. If future hubby proposes I, (why-not-why-not), say 'aye'. It occurs to me that I'm in a very accomodating mood today. It must be all those yummy new clothes. :)

Eid ul-Fitr or Id-ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr‎), often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "to break fast"; and so the holiday symbolizes the breaking of the fasting period-quoted from wikipedia

Okay hang on a second. I said fasting does not make sense to me. I did not say shopping does not make sense to me, or attending various eid-y gatherings, or generally partaking in a 'social' tradition. Unlike certain people (who have chosen to remain nameless) I choose to keep my religion (whatever it may be) out of the public domain.

And I apologize if it came across that I'm being 'big' about not fasting. I was merely lashing out at people (like you) who look down on those who decide not to engage in a particular religious activity trying to make them ashamed of themselves when they have no reason to be - because it's between them and their God.

Oh and for the record I don't need to justify to you - or to anybody else - how many fasts I did end up keeping, or why I chose not to fast. I choose to celebrate Eid because its time with my family and friends that I don't otherwise get. Please take your bitterness elsewhere, I don't need you ruining my good mood today. Come back when I'm feeling bitter and awful, I'll be better equipped to handle your diatribes then.

Anon: You could just type your name in the comment box instead of this ever-anonymous. And Shias are very much Muslims, I have no idea why you think otherwise...

I see there's been some pretty nasty fighting going on here.
How do you even manage to take such comments seriously and go on replying on top ?

Oh before I forget,
[.. if it came across that I'm being 'big' about not fasting] .. yeah but you're going to be big because of not fasting [:P]

Anywho .. Eid Mubarak.
