In other news for today, a little birdie tells us that:

"Taking their lead from China, two Americans have opened the first US-based Internet Addiction treatment center in Fall City, Wash. — ironically close to Redmond (Microsoft's hometown). The center, called reStart: Internet Addiction Recovery Program, is a 45-day treatment center where, for a steep set of fees, people can be cured of their addiction to the Web. After paying the $200 application fee, addicts are charged $14,500 for the 45 days, an additional $800 for a screening, and more for extra services, like kayaking ($1,575)."

Well, well, well! Who-would-have-thunk-it? :P

I think a cell phone addiction center would be more profitable in PK.

I dont think web addiction can be cured totally. What are they gonna do? Stop using the web? Its not like alcohol or a cig. you can just quit an lead a normal life without it. Don't most white collar jobs involve at least some web usage anyways?

DM: From what I've read, the objective is to cure addiction to games such as Warcraft etc. As someone who has been addicted to AoE in the past, I know that it's possible to develop an unhealthy obsession with the games. But I agree with you, how does one 'cure' such an obsession. And why call it 'internet addiction'. Sounds fairly stupid to me to tell you the truth! :P

reSTART is one of the handful of rehab centers aimed at gamers. The reason it's a net addiction center is mainly because the most addictive games are the ones you play online against human opponents. WoW and CS being prime examples. Facebooking is also being seen as another Net based Addiction.
