I desire a professional opinion from-those-who-claim-to-know, is it better to be loved because of who you are, or despite who you are?

i dont claim to know, but i think its better to be loved because of who are than be loved despite of who you are. in ideal cases it could be both, but whose talking about ideal cases in an unidealistic world :)
